Banana sticks

Banana sticks

Ingredients

* 2 Ripe but firm bananas
* 1/2 cup of melted chocolate (We used combo of Dairy milk and Hershey’s )
* 2-3 Marie or any other digestive biscuits
* Some finely crushed walnuts, almonds etc
* Some tooth picks

Method:

* In a double boiler, melt the chocolate.Keep the bowl with melted chocolate immersed in hot water till used. Lick some if you can’t resist, go ahead (but watch out the heat)
* Peel and slice bananas into around 1 inch pieces. But be careful with knife.
* Crush the almonds/walnuts (or both) and set aside.
* Crush the biscuits and keep these aside in a plate.
* Now pick each piece of banana with a toothpick, roll it in melted chocolate till it is covered with heavenly brown layer , roll it in crushed biscuits, then roll it again (lots of rolling going on..hmmmm) on the bed of crushed dry fruits. Don’t worry about the mess..Moms know best how to clear it..No?.
* Chill the brown delights in refrigerator for some time.

  1. Hi Yash!

How have you been? Did you follow the exciting match at Mohali? At 128-8,I went away in despair, then next day in a Pakistani newspaper saw: YAYYYYYY!!!

Hope you are gettng ready for the Navaratri & Diwali holidays! Are you going to cook something special for Mummy & Papaji? [I know Mummy does not like -ji, so I left out that term of respect!Bad of me!!]

I came across this banana caramel sauce that you might like, although you should ask Mummy to stand near you since melting sugar is very hot & can cause serious burns.

I always advise SAFETY GLASSES in the kitchen because EYES are very precious. Tell DADDY that laboratory supply stores will have them. Use them just like you use bike helmets: ALWAYS when biking or when cooking (in this case).

Now: place about 1-2 measuring cups [200 ml each] white sugar in a saucepan with a heavy bottom and put it on medium heat.

Carefully watch,& shake or stir while it melts & turns a golden brown. Add a pinch of salt to cut the sweetness, but not too much.

Watch for a particular shade of golden brown that is not too dark but just enough to your liking.

Then add fresh cream. Be careful of splattering and hot cream jumping into your face & eyes. Keep stirring fast & continuously. You will need just enough cream to make a thick sauce. Off heat. Add sliced ripe bananas & allow them to heat up.

Serve over waffles, or French toast made with a touch of cinnamon, or any of the crisp Sindhi breads.Top with something crunchy, like nuts that have been warmed or roasted in the microwave before serving: walnuts, pecans, almond, moongphali, whatever you have.

You can also add some sliced raw apples on the side for crunch & health and they clean the teeth of sugar residue.

Wishing you & your family a most auspicious & happy Holiday Season.

    Gautam.
